Man kills a woman and her child while transporting his (former) wife's severed head.

Quote from the article:

Time, 51, who was not injured, told officers he was involved his wife's death, investigators said.

...

An autopsy was scheduled next week to determine Theresa Time's cause of death, Canyon County Coroner Vicki DeGeus-Morris said.

Keep in mind we are referring here to the woman with the whole "severed head" problem.

Autopsy to determine the cause of death?

Jackson says:

Perhaps they are implying that she may have been killed prior to being decapitated. It does sound ridiculous, though, as it is said.

rnewhouse says:

That was the same thought I had when I read it! But, she could have been poisoned first, then shot, then suffocated -- and he took the head to avoid leaving evidence.

I read too many crime dramas.

Wirehead says:

Yeah, I know. She could've been sodomized by lemmings, too. But once you've decapitated someone, and admitted you were involved in the death, and you then swerve into oncoming traffic, killing another woman and her child and sending your wife's head flying into passersby, does it really MATTER exactly how the wife originally died?

rnewhouse says:

Let me tell you about the U.S. legal system and how hard it is to convict a criminal these days without exactly the right evidence, procured in exactly the right way.

Some Harvard Law grad is sure to propose that when the guy stood in the middle of the wreckage of two cars, holding his wife's bleeding head in his hands, sobbing "I'm sorry!" his Miranda rights were violated and therefore not only is the confession invalid, but all evidence (i.e., random woman's head) are inadmissible.

And some judge is going to agree.

Mark my words.

Wirehead says:

[covers ears]

HMM HMMM HMM I CAN'T HEAR YOU! I LIVE IN A COUNTRY WHERE LOGIC AND RATIONALITY ARE THE BASIS FOR A FUNCTIONING, FAIR LEGAL AND POLITICAL SYSTEM! HMM HMMMMHMMMM HMMMMM
